The 2026 MLB All-Star Game is set to take place next month in Philadelphia, and while fan voting ballots have officially dropped, it’s time to start thinking about who you might place on the American and National League squads. While there are some obvious names to make the team—looking at you, Shohei Ohtani and Yordan Alvarez—fans will have to make a few difficult decisions about who else will get their vote.

On this episode of Baseball Bar-B-Cast, Jake Mintz and Jordan Shusterman break down both sides of the ballot and give their opinions on who they think should be voted in, including who might be the top vote-getter on the AL side with Aaron Judge set to miss the game. They also try to figure out how many players from the Philadelphia Phillies will represent their club with the game being hosted in the City of Brotherly Love.

Later, Jake and Jordan discuss their recent trips to the ballpark, where they saw Paul Skenes take on the Los Angeles Dodgers, as well as his side quest to hang out with some little leaguers, and Gerrit Cole do something he hadn’t done since 2022 against the Cleveland Guardians. They then talk about the incredible debut from Chicago White Sox prospect Braden Montgomery and look at the crazy numbers coming out of Sacramento A’s and Milwaukee Brewers games in Las Vegas.

Nekias Duncan and Steve Jones check in on the standings with a week left of group play. The New York Liberty, Atlanta Dream, and Indiana Fever are BATTLING out East, while the Minnesota Lynx and Las Vegas Aces could enter their weekend matchup with 4-0 records.

Exciting times!

From there, the guys check in on a few teams around the league. The Toronto Tempo are driving teams insane -- seriously, teams are not having fun defending them off the bounce -- while the Portland Fire are going through a rough patch right now.

The Los Angeles Sparks have been searching for consistency all year long, and there's room for growth on both ends of the floor. Is it more important for them to strengthen their defense to make the offense easier, or is a more purposeful offense the key to giving themselves more wiggle room to set their defense?

The more things change, the more things remain the same: the New York Liberty and Las Vegas Aces look REALLY good right now. Both teams are riding win streaks; the Liberty's (zone) defense is stifling everyone, while the electric play of Jackie Young and A'ja Wilson headlines the Aces' recent string of success.

Finally, the guys talk through the WNBA's developing tiers. The Minnesota Lynx have established themselves as the league's best team so far, but who else joins them? What is the WNBA's middle class right now? Can the Phoenix Mercury work their way out of the bottom of the standings -- and what role will Monique Akoa-Makani's *offense* play in that task?
